Tell us about yourself and your music.

Well for those who haven’t heard of me as of yet and I wouldn’t be surprised because I’m still in the process of making a name for myself, but I go by the name of ‘Deyvon Songwriter’ from New York city. I really prefer to be called Deyvon. I am independent songwriter/recording artist signed to a international label called Bentley Records and as far as my music goes since I am really a songwriter I can write all types of music such as rap, r&b, pop, rock, etc you name it and i can do it I would say my music is more like a genuine kind of sound I try to keep my style a little different away from other artists but since i only have a few hot tracks out people haven’t really gotten to know the real me yet but they will soon find out when I release a few more songs this year.

How would you describe your sound?

Umm all I can say to that is different in its own ways (laughs).

Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.

Well I have two big songs out right now titled ‘Freaking You and Game Over (Prod. By Tunna Beatz) when I recorded both songs I already knew it was going to make a name for myself and not only because the beat is hot; I would say it’s mainly because the way I can write my lyrics, hooks and record my songs so yeah for those haven’t heard it yet just simply google Deyvon Songwriter and you will see the links show up on your search engine. I currently work with a guy name Michael Makowski who won Grammys for working with Amy Winehouse. He also worked with other big artists overseas and etc but he’s mainly known for his work with Amy Winehouse. So yeah he’s my main guy. I record with when I go to the studio.

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
I am currently working on my mix tape titled ‘Vonture The Mixtape Ep’ which will be released sometime this year under the label Bentley Records and as far as shows goes there are currently no shows going on at the moment just a lot of radio play been happening for me. I been contacted by several promoters asking me to audition/perform at their shows, but sometimes when you read over things and if it doesn’t sound right to you its best to leave it alone if you get what I mean I do plan on doing some shows sooner or later but not at the moment we just gotta find the right promoters and all that then I’m good to go.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?

My biggest highlight so far is being able to work with Michael Makowski, the guy I was saying have Grammys for working with Amy Winehouse; it’s really dope working with him because he really have a ear for music and believes in me. I would also say it’s been a blessing knowing that I have a decent fanbase behind me so far and sometimes when I am walking in the street some of my fans actually notice me (laughs). Well in my city which is NYC some of them already know me so that’s dope.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s).

I would definitely love to work Jay-z someday. I am like a huge fan of his and influenced by him as well. I always said if I can work with anybody mainstream it would be the big Hov.

Name something random that people do not know about you.

Hmm well lets see I don’t think people know how much I love eating chicken everyday (laughs). Some folks actually call me a chicken because that’s all I eat (laughs). Also I am a funny type of guy. I have a funny sense of humor at times so that’s something random I guess (laughs).

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?

The one thing I have learned and still learning is that there’s a lot of levels to this music industry. I always thought it will just be recording music, touring, doing videos shoots and all but its not there’s a lot more than you know. My advice to other indie artists is just to take your time when making music don’t rush, socialize with other people, collaborate with other artists and actually put in some work don’t be like these other guys out here uploading music then expecting to receive some feedback by not promoting themselves share your links daily but don’t spam I see guys complain about one views but that’s on you though you just have to grind and keep pushing.

What can we expect from you in the future?
I would say only time can tell that but hopefully you should expect a lot more music from me in the future.
