Hip hop needs more positive influential artists. I believe Nefertiitii is one of them. The young emcee is making waves with her singles “Dreamer” and “1 of a Kind;” both singles respectively highlights Nefertiitii’s lyricism and style as well as cater to the conscious hip hop that is often missing in her hometown, Baltimore. The release of her new EP, 18th Dynasty showcase a solid case of work. Nefertiitii has a job to do and that is to be the voice for the young people.

I interviewed Nefertiitii about upbringings, hip hop, her EP 18th Dynasty and what’s next for her.

How did you discover hip hop?

I discovered hip hop when I was young. I remember my dad having these vinyls in the house because he used to DJ. He wrote rhymes too. My mom always had music playing. So the hip hop culture was around me constantly. Plus I loved the way it made me feel when I listened to it.

Talk about your new music. What can listeners take from the music?

My new music is on some vibe-out new school hip hop with that 90’s flavor. It’s definitely lyrical, fun, clever. I like to think of it like meat and potatoes. You will definitely feel full, musically, after you hear a Nefertiitii Project. My new project is an EP titled 18th  Dynasty and it’s definitely dope all the way through. I talk about my experiences. I have fun on some records, and plus it’s straight bars!

What’s one of the biggest moments of your career thus far?

One of the biggest moments so far was being nominated for the RepYoGrind’s Femcee of the Year award. It was an honor to be recognized in this way so early on in my career.

Would you say social media helps your career as far as reaching new audiences and getting exposure?

Social media is important. Having an active and engaging online presence has really boosted my career and helped me get to some different audiences that I may not have been able to reach otherwise. Definitely a must!

Have you done any show? If so, tell us about them.

Yes, most definitely. Just to name a few, my last show was Spring Jam at Baltimore Soundstage. Before that I had a release party and showcase for my EP. I performed at the Beats Bar Brushes before that, which is a prominent art and music showcase in the city. I also have quite a few shows lined up this summer as well. I’ll be posting details on my social media for all my Kings and Queens who want to come out and support.

What artists are you listening to?

In this “creation” phase that I’m in right now, I’m not really listening to a lot of other artists. I’m back in the studio working on the next project already, and I like to keep my ears fresh. It’s kind of hard to articulate, but for me personally it’s something about just locking yourself in and creating something uninfluenced by anything that is currently happening in music. That’s how I stay innovative.

Where do you see yourself in two years?

In two years, I see myself on completely different level as an artist. There are so many dope elements of performance and visual art that we will be introducing in the near future, and I’m definitely excited for the world to see what’s in store with that. I can envision my clothing line “Epik Influx Apparel” being sold worldwide. I envision the Nefertiitii brand being a household name. We have a big vision and we’re out here making big moves!

What’s next for you?

We are currently drafting a treatment for my next music video. We’re shooting to my new single “1 of a Kind” and it’s basically going to be a motion picture so definitely look out for that. It will be EPIK! I’m hitting some cities this summer promoting the EP. I’ll be hitting NY, ATL, the whole DMV and surrounding, and more. So all my Kings and Queens definitely follow my social media to find out when I’ll be in your city!

Anything else you would like to share?

I just want to shout out my whole team and my fans, my Kings and Queens for rocking with me and supporting me 100 grand. That means everything and I would not be able to make these moves out here without them so, much love!

Where can we find you on social media? Where can we listen to your music?
