Dj Gucci, also known as The King of The Underground is a rising DJ out of Chicago. He has had love for hip hop music and samples for a very long time and decided to become a well-respected DJ in the game. Not only does he work hard, and have learned lessons along the way, but he is able to live out his dreams when get does performances that makes the crowds go crazy. Traveling, doing club appearances, networking with other artists, are just a few that that Dj Gucci is up too. He has a lot of plans for the rest of summer sixteen and he sat down with PurpleBars to talk about them.
I recently interviewed DJ Gucci to discuss his the making of his mixes, his highlight of his career thus far and what he has coming up next. Peep the interview below!
Tell us about yourself and your music.
DJ Gucci: My Name Is DJ Gucci, “The King Of The Underground.” I am a hot Hip Hop Dj out of the suburbs of Chicago. I have developed a new way to listen to today’s new hip hop. I sample mix and blend mix.
How would you describe your sound?
DJ Gucci: I would have to say hot and futuristic.
Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.
DJ Gucci: well to be honest, I just love to mix. So I record my live practice sessions and I post them and so many people love my mixes. I have to press them up because so many people want them.
What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
DJ Gucci: Well I am currently working with a couple of rap artists with their mixtapes and I just released a new mixtape myself. So I’ve been promoting like crazy but I am always opened to help whenever needed.
What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
DJ Gucci: I’ve done a ton of clubs downtown Chicago. So I have a lot of highlights, but to me, the biggest show I did was with Waka Flocka.
Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s).
DJ Gucci: Gucci Mane, Kanye West, Twista, and me of course
Name something random that people do not know about you.
DJ Gucci: I was the coldest juke music dancer when I was younger.
What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
DJ Gucci: If you don’t do it, who else will. You have to be a leader in this music business because there is so much talent out here that you have to keep pushing hard and standing out. You have to do it! In due time, it does pay off.
