There’s a new producer in the mix. Meet, Jay Pate, an innovator with a lot of musical influences and background to back up his talents. As he preps for his upcoming LP, Redemption, Jay Pate is working on crossing things off of his To-Do list, which includes, collaborating with other artists, getting up on sales, and really getting a hold of how the music industry and music business operates. I’ll say, he is on his way. I got a chance to interview Jay Pate about his latest projects, some lessons he has learned, and what’s up next for him.

Tell us about yourself and your music.

Jay Pate: I’m just a young black southern gentleman. I started taking piano lessons at the age of 5 and music has been a part of my life ever since. My music is just me expressing my feelings with bars and notes.

How would you describe your sound?

Jay Pate: My sound is mix of old dirty south music and new trap flavored music. I take a piece of all that. I like and try to make good compositions with it.

Talk about your experience making your recent project?

Jay Pate: Strenuous to say the least. I’m trying to give people something they are familiar with and at the same time expose them to something they never heard.

What are you currently working on? Any shows?

Jay Pate: I’m currently working on a LP called Redemption. I see it as my chance to redeem myself spiritually. I think I was taking it easy on my old projects and now I don’t hold back.

What’s one thing you have learned about the music industry?

Jay Pate: The music industry is just like any other corporate operation. It’s about sales and numbers. I’m trying to get my numbers up this year.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Jay Pate: Great things. Simply great things. I love music and I’m going to try to create some classic albums and mixtapes in the future.
