It’s been a while since I’ve seen a female artist that possess a balance of swag, sexuality, and rhymes. The artist that did that balance well was Trina. Now we have Jha’Marie who is not only a hip hop artist, but a songwriter, dancer and model. All of the talents quickly brands Jha’Marie as something unique. She’s a Detroit native with a southern rap style and hot bars that will make you listen twice. Her latest single, ” Bad Chick” gives a glimpse of the type of woman and artist Jha’Marie is. However, this interview will give our readers and possible new fans a reintroduce of the “Bad Chick” rapstress.

Tell us about yourself and your music.

Jha’Marie: I am a very down to earth individual with her own DNA. Not afraid to be uniquely myself. All about self empowerment! My music typically expresses love, fun, encouragement and positivity, however, i am human so this may change from time to time (Laughs).

How would you describe your sound?

Jha’Marie: My sound is one I battled with for years due to many people asking me to change my voice. However, I’ve come to realize my deep, sexy, and strong voice brings character to all I do, leaving me with a raw hip hop sound that delivers with no apology.

Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.

Jha’Marie: At the beginning, my experiences were kind of blah because i didn’t know what directions to go in and who Jha’marie really was, but as I’ve grown as a person and artist, I realize that there is no direction just the need to freely be me, however that may manifest itself!

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?

Jha’Marie: I am currently working on a new upcoming single “Rich”. This song is way different my single “Bad Chick” which is full of life and energy. My new single is slow and laid back. My video is going to be dope! I can not wait for you guys to see it!

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?

Jha’Marie: So far, being on the same stage as Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy etc..was a pretty awesome experience.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)

Jha’Marie: Oh boy! I am a fan of so many artists for different reasons, but to narrow it down I’d love to work with T.I, Kendrick Lamar, Ciara of course. Beyonce and Nicki Minaj are no brainers!

Name something random that people do not know about you.

Jha’Marie: Random you say (laughs), I use to eat dirt when I was little. Not the nasty muddy dirt, but the pretty white sand at the park (laughs)! Geez Louise. Don’t judge me.

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?

Jha’Marie:  That the struggle is real.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Jha’Marie: It’s really hard to say what to expect, because as an artist, we grow everyday, but I want to express myself every chapter of my life to you! So get ready for the ride!

Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Jha’Marie: Never lose yourself for anything, because it’s crazy hard finding you again! Also, I look forward to introducing who I am and why I am here to stay! #IAmMyOnlyCompetition
