There’s a new artist in town and her name is Reyna Roberts. With a voice like an angel, an image like a sweetheart, and the mind of a creative, Reyna has the star package. From being a trained pianist based out of Hollywood and learning the ropes of the music industry early on, she is definitely a musician first and then a businesswoman thereafter. Honing onto the craft and detailing her artistry and brand, Reyna’s music standout due to her ability to be different, daring, and bold from her lyricism to her visuals. This young woman is making moves.

I am so glad I was able to interview Reyna Roberts to get to know the woman behind the music. She’s real star power and all of you out there, need to keep your eyes on her.

Peep the interview below:

Tell us about yourself and your music.

Reyna Roberts: I’ve always loved all types of music. I’m an innovator of sound, and I couldn’t imagine a day without singing. The first time I performed I
was three years old in a bar in Alaska. I sang Lady Marmalade with my mom.  My music is what connects me to the world, to time, and to the evolution of myself. My music comes before anything else.

How would you describe your sound?

Reyna Roberts: My sound is unique (I’ve been told that often), I have a distinct voice and tone. When you hear me sing you think “Yes, that’s Reyna”. I’m often told “I didn’t expect such a big voice from that little body”. I love instrumentation. I play piano, so I love to hear various instruments in my music.

Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.

Reyna Roberts: The first time I recorded a song I couldn’t get over hearing my voice on a track. I had been so used to just playing piano and singing. I was in love when the song was finished, I couldn’t stop listening to it. I played in on repeat for weeks. The studio is my favorite place to be (next to being on stage).

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?

Reyna Roberts: I have at least 6 big shows coming up next month. I love the process of getting ready for a show. I’m practicing with my dancers, and spending hours on the piano.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career thus far?

Reyna Roberts: Being on the High School Nation Tour! It’s an amazing experience. I love being busy day to day and not being stagnant. I also love performing for charities and being able to give back to communities, and making sure people have a brighter day.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s).

Reyna Roberts: I would love to collaborate with Beyonce; she is my favorite artist. She has inspired me so much as a performer and singer. I would love to even be on stage next to her. it would a huge honor.

Name something random that people don’t know about you!

Reyna Roberts: I wrestled all four years of high school and placed 3rd in CIF, and I almost wrestled in college, but I knew it would distract me from my music.

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the music scene/industry?

Reyna Roberts: A lot of people can pretend to want to help you, but they’re only looking out for themselves, and how much they can get paid. You can’t let the failures and mistakes get you down, because they will always be there. You have to persevere and be stubborn if you want to be in the music business.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Reyna Roberts: New hit songs, sold out arenas, and many Grammys to come.

Anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Reyna Roberts: If you love something deep enough you have to fight to have it.
