Wavy Lee is an up and coming rap artist and producer hailing from Birmingham, Alabama. With the southern rap flavor, swag, and strong production selections, it is safe to say that Wavy Lee’s music is diverse. His sound is unique with a hint of that mainstream rap sound that you hear on the radio, which isn’t a bad thing either. To get a gist of his music, I would recommend listening to “Hard Time” to learn more about his style, brand, and sound.

Check out my interview with Wavy Lee below!

How would you describe your sound?

Wavy Lee: I would describe my sound as an evolution of 90’s hip hop with a millennial flair. My music is motivational with an entertaining drive that gives listeners an inside of my personal feelings. An example is in my latest song “I just Want to Win” in which it references and lessons learned as I try to make in the industry.

Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.

Wavy Lee: When making my mixtape, the experience was much like a lot of my other projects considering I usually make my music without a specific direction or sound. Spontaneity is key when making my music. With that being said this mixtape came together without me having to stress of exaggerate the vibe of my music.

What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?

Wavy Lee: I am definitely working on new projects I have over three hundred unheard records. I am working on shows for my near future.

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?

Wavy Lee: The biggest highlight in my music career has been me getting the opportunity to learn from artists that have already made a name for themselves.

Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)

Wavy Lee: My ideal collaboration would be me creating a musical master piece with Childish Gambino and Bryson Tiller.

Name something random that people do not know about you.

Wavy Lee: I have always wanted to be an Architect and I love looking at bridges and interpreting them.

What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?

Wavy Lee: I have learned that you never know which song will be the one song that sends you as an artist over the top.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Wavy Lee: You can expect better music and better visuals, meaning that you will see a new sound brought to the industry and a more elaborative story line in my music.
