A prank gone wrong in Ohio has left one teen dead and his friends charged with murder. The slain boy entered the home of a former friend wearing an Insane Clown Posse mask and was gunned down by a resident, and later died due to the negligence of his friends.
The bizarre incident took place in the early morning hours last Sunday in Prairie Township when Reb Barbee, 17, entered the home of Heather Tackett, who discovered Barbee standing over her 17-year-old’s bed in the dark. Using her boyfriend’s pistol, she shot Barbee who then fled with his pals.
The Columbus Dispatch has more:
Investigators say that Reb Barbee, 17, was behind the mask and had three friends help him sneak through a second-floor window of 8798 Hubbard Dr. S.
Despite a gunshot wound in his upper back, Barbee ran with his friends about a half-mile back to Barbee’s house at 635 Dovalon Place.
Nobody called 911. Not until an hour later, at 5:14 a.m. when Adam Pickens picked up the phone.
“Uh, I have a shot friend,” the 18-year-old told the dispatcher. “I really don’t know what to say.”
Pickens lied to the authorities in a bid to protect Barbee, who later died around 6 a.m. at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital. Pickens, Brandon J. Hamilton and Tyler R. Blazer, both 17, were arrested.
Hamilton and Blazer face delinquency counts of murder and complicity to aggravated burglary. Pickens will face the same charges in adult court and is currently being held on $250,000 bond.
Tackett said she was “devastated” by the incident.
