Make way for West Coast legend DJ Quik, who stopped by the Sway in the Morning show to discuss his upcoming The Midnight Life album. But given the rapper, producer, and engineer’s lengthy tenure in Hip-Hop, during which he’s worked with notable artists like Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, and more, the conversation definitely took an anecdotal turn.
Quik’s longevity, of course, was among the topics he discussed during the half-hour interview. The Compton native recalled mastering the aforementioned skill sets, and how that’s kept him relevant enough to release a ninth studio LP. From it, listeners can hear the Dom Kennedy and Suga Free-assisted cut called “Life Jacket.”
The Midnight Life hits retailers on October 14, but fans can pre-order the project via iTunes.
