Spotlight Interview: Duke

Washington D.C. native, Duke is a rising rapper that is getting love from all over the internet. Being an indie artist in this era of rap has it’s perks because there are so many people who can hear your music without even meeting you. Duke is using that platform (i.e. social media) to reach potential fans with his latest mixtape, Trap Alive. In this mixtape, you will hear the trap-like beats, which are catchy and Duke knows how to ride the beat of each song.
I got the chance to interview Duke to know more about him and his music. Check out the interview below.
Tell us about yourself as an artist and your music.
Duke: My music is from the time of today as I work through everything in life.
How would you describe your sound?
Duke: My sound is just everything from the 80s.
Talk about the experience making your mixtape Trap Alive.
Duke: It was everything I had to give at the time.
What’s your favorite song on Trap Alive and why?
Duke: [Definitely] my single, “Cash.”
What are you currently working on? New projects? Shows?
Duke: I am work on a song for this summer.
What has been your biggest highlight in your career this far?
Duke: Moving my music by myself.
Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artists.
Duke: Jay-Z

Duke: I work 75% out the library.
