Spotlight Interview: P.V.M.

I discovered Piff VonMar aka P.V.M’s music on Soundcloud and all I can say is that it’s dope and I would highly recommend you giving his music a listen. So, when I found out I would be interviewing him, I was excited! His music is a cross between what you hear in mainstream hip hop with a twist of that classic 90s hip hop. It’s a well balance of the two. From tracks like “Hold On” to “Drugs,” you will see his versatility in his rhymes and style. So let me introduce you to a new artist to have on your radar: P.V.M. Check out the interview below.

Tell us about yourself and your music.
PVM Positive Vibes Mentally also known as Piff VonMar. Chicago recording “Creative”. I would have to say my music is Two steps below God, meaning it’s completely human the good, bad and ugly!
How would you describe your sound?
P.V.M: It’s a new genre, the sound of the future state of music forever changing without barriers. Unnatural, alien-like. You know like Out of this world!
Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.
P.V.M: The process of creating the album, I just let things flow effortless. No pressure. Completely being myself and not worrying about how it’ll be critiqued. No deadlines or thinking hits, majority of the time, I didn’t even have things in writing. We being me and the homie J.Parker focused on the energy from forming the instrumentations and from that I just allowed collective energies to lead the way. The magic just ran its course from there.
What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
P.V.M: I’m currently working on my debut album! Bred Bastard. Music has been taking me around the states as of late. I just set SXSW on fire. Now I’m on a small promo tour. I’ll be hitting up New York, Nashville, Atlanta, and California throughout the months of April and May.
What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
P.V.M: The struggle is what I highlight the most. The shows with five people in the crowd and they all artist themselves or friends but still going and give it my all. That’s the shit that’s kept me Lit! Because that’s what’s got me this far.
Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s).
P.V.M: I would Collab with Little Simz from the Uk. I think she’s dope and her stage presence is on another level. Right where I like to be we’d tear some shit up on a composition or live.
Name something random that people do not know about you.
P.V.M: I’m left handed
What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
P.V.M: Sacrifice. I’ve dedicated countless hours and cut off countless people dealing with this scene.
What can we expect from you in the future?
P.V.M: To become a household name. Get familiar!
