This single is ready for the summer. It’s nice to see young female rap artist get their credit in this rap game. Xkluesyve is definitely out here creating a buzz for her music and career. Watch her work!
In a recent interview with Xkluesyve, we talked about her sound, highlights, lessons and upcoming plans.
Tell us about yourself and your music.
Xkluesyve: Well I go by Xkluesyve, I’m from Greenville. I feel my music is what America has been waiting on for quite some time now. My music gives women a voice in today’s Hip-Hop music scene. I also feel like I’m not your average female rapper, and that my music will motivate others to step up their craft.
How would you describe your sound?
Xkluesyve: I have my own unique southern style. It’s not like anything you’ve ever heard before. I would describe it as: half lady, half thug.
Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.
Xkluesyve: It’s been a long process! I’ve been working nonstop in the studio trying to put together a flawless project. I’m talking late nights, early morning sessions, promoting, marketing, out of state touring, and more! It’s been a stressful process, but when it’s all said and done I know the outcome will be worth it.
What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
Xkluesyve: I’m always doing shows, almost every weekend. I update my show info regularly on all my social media pages. My mixtape, First Round will be dropping this Fall. As soon as the release becomes available, I’ll spill the beans! I also have a couple of video shoots coming up, as well as new singles dropping!
What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
Xkluesyve: I would have to say my biggest highlight thus far has been my two video shoots. I say that simply because my first video was a first time experience for me. I’ve always rapped. That rapping transitioned to music. Then after the music has been laid down, comes the vision to that music! These videos, I feel were my next step forward in my career.
Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s)
Xkluesyve: T.I. because I’m sort of like the female version of Tip. I think we could put out a hit if presented with the opportunity! I just really can relate to him, his sound, and his whole demeanor.
Name something random that people do not know about you.
Xkluesyve: Well I actually just started taking my career seriously over the last year. Most people are shocked when I tell them that.
What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
Xkluesyve: I’ve learned that it’s a dog eats dog world. You have artists on the scene who don’t want to see you progressing in your career. I’ve also learned that with this music you have got to have patience and a budget. It’s not cheap, or easy!
What can we expect from you in the future?
Xkluesyve: Bars after bars, mixtapes after mixtapes, videos after videos, and most importantly good music! Who knows, maybe some chartings on the billboards.
Anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Xkluesyve: Be sure to stay updated with everything I have coming up via Facebook and Instagram. Also stay tuned for my debut project, First Round!
