Chaps ft. Late Bloom – What You All About

In today’s mainstream hip hop (or I should say rap music), substance and real thought process is missing from the music. There’s nothing wrong with a club banger or party song here and there, but we need true and raw songs. Songs that make listeners think or reminisce or relate to. Here’s where independent hip hop artists feel that void. Underground rap artists are well aware of what’s needed in today’s music.
Here’s how Chaps’ single “What You All About” is one of those tracks. Not only does the song give you that nostalgic hip hop feel due to its production, delivery, and content, but it’s a joint track with two artists who spit lyrical material. “What You All About” sonically is just melodic to the ears.
In “What You All About” outlines the past, present, and future events that can happen in a man’s life. This is a song that is speaking “real man” things. From Chaps verse about his past mistakes and how he has learned from them and then speaking in the future terms of “tryna be the father that I never had,” the track gets real and personal. Something real hip hop heads can appreciate due to the substance.
Chaps also brings on Late Bloom, who laces the track with a dope verse, “moving at his own pace,” which compliments the sound well. The collaboration between Chaps and Late Bloom is almost done effortlessly and makes a dope collabo.
So I highly recommend listening to “What You All About” first and then listen to the rest of Chaps’ music to see what he’s all about.
