Blu Benny is a hip hop hailing from Minnesota. His style is trendy such as what you are hearing now on your radio. Even though, he is new to the rap game, Blu Benny has always scored features with Rich the Kid and even sold out his own shows and performances. With his ambition and work ethic, we can predict that he will be a name you will be hearing with the upcoming artists of 2017. Just wait on it.
Tell us about yourself and your music.
I’m Blu Benny. I’m 21 and been rapping my whole life but just recently started taking it serious, maybe about 3 or 4 years ago… My music is based on my life; it’s an outlet for me and it allows me to express myself. I am a fan of the hustle and I come from the struggle, so my music is a product of my environment.
How would you describe your sound?
I would say that my sound is unique and my flow is diverse and most of all it’s “street”. It’s thorough!
Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.
Working on my upcoming project, Trappin Out The Loft. It was kind of rough and crackin’ cause I built a decent buzz locally from a few singles I dropped, “Fuck It Off” featuring Rich The Kid & “Fuck Up A Check,” so a lot of artist wanted to be on featured on it but couldn’t and to disappoint them took a lot. Yea I would say that was the hardest part. But the creative process was smooth and easy for the most part…I probably recorded over 20 songs specifically for this project but only 12 gonna made it. We plan on releasing it early 1st quarter after we work these singles a little longer.
What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
Like I said I plan on releasing Trappin Out The Loft early 1st quarter and right now I have a few tracks floating around… My Soundcloud is where you can find most new releases, my single “Fukkk It Off” is available on iTunes and I’m thinking about dropping a mixtape on all digital platforms in November called Industry Underdog.
What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
Performing at SXSW & A3C was definitely a dope experience but I would say my single “Fuck It Off” “Fukkk It Off” featuring Rich The Kid maybe the biggest highlight thus far, nah… selling out my own show during Drake Relay weekend in Des Moines, Iowa last year is it.
