Spotlight Interview: J. Haskin

J. Haskin is a Detroit hip hop artist with a lot of great things going for him. The emcee is making moves with music and is gaining new fans along the way, including the staff here at PurpleBars! We got a chance to interview J. Haskin about his upbringing, new music and the plans he has for the new year. Check it out below.
Tell us about yourself and your music.
My name is J.Haskin. I am from Detroit,Mi. I been doing music for 8 years. My music reflects my life and experiences that I have went through. I try to be a diverse artist that shows the ups and downs. I like to make my music as honest and relatable as possible.
How would you describe your sound?
Soulful, I have have an old soul so its spills over into my my music. I use a lot of beats that have 70’s,80’s,90’s feel to it. I grew up on that music so I have deep connection to that type of music.
Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.
I been working on my project “HEAR ME OUT” for some time now. I wanted to perfect it before I released it. It will be coming out in 2017

What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
Opening up at shows for Major Established Artist

I want to collaborate with Jhene, Jay-z, Childish Gambino and Nipsey Hussle

I pay attention to everything
What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
I learned if you want something done you have to do it yourself. Don’t depend on anyone.
