Check out the interview below!
Tell us about yourself and your music.
My stage name is Zaktoven and I’m based out of Nashville,TN. My music is turn up music but I also have those songs that everyone can relate to.
How would you describe your sound?
This is a difficult question, as I sound different on every song I drop. My goal is to stay diverse, so my fans don’t become bored with my music. But if I had to say it would be a mix of R&B and rap.
Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.
It’s been an interesting ride making this tape. I’ve hit so many road blocks on the way and kept thinking I was never gonna finish. I’ve recorded this whole tape in an attic and wrote most of it on the move.
What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
My mixtape titled “Trust Issues” is the current tape I’m working on and is to be released early 2017. Ive got shows booked consistently so just follow my social media to stay up to date with those. I’ve got a series of music videos about to drop with my group bando gang (T.J. Knox, Vin$ay, and Daylo).
What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?
Hitting over 100k views on my debut music video which was deleted, because the videographer was a part of Bando Gang and we got into an altercation and ended the relationship there.
Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s).
Would have to be either Kevin Gates or Fetty Wap, as they have influenced my sound the most. Ive followed them from the beginning and still continue to support what they’re doing. Local wise I would like to collab with lil bre,615 exclusive, cashvillle young t, tray8, and just about any TN artist I can.
Name something random that people do not know about you?
Rap music hasn’t always been my favorite genre of music.
What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
That good music isn’t gonna make you big, the business side is the biggest aspect people need to understand and learn.
What can we expect from you in the future?
Many more mixtapes/albums and bigger shows with mainstream artists as I already have some under the works.
Anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Go follow all my social media pages and stay tuned for “Trust Issues” when it drops its gonna wake up the industry on my team and me.
