Spotlight Interview: Matt L from TL Beats

Get to know Matt Lane, the rising hip hop producer with an ear for talent and sounds. One of the producers from TL Beats, a buzzing production team and record label. His mixes will surely captivate all hip hop heads! We got a chance to interview him about his upbringing, what made his choose this career path and what’s next for him. Check out the interview below.
Tell us about yourself and your music.
My name is Matt Lane of TL Beats, a rap hip-hop production team/record label.
How would you describe your sound?
Authentic American hip hop. Sounds mostly from the east coast rap scene. Ear porn if you will.

Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.
“Illiterate” is our latest project. It is a compilation of the beats we’ve produced over a decent time period. The word itself is a play on the fact we actually pride ourselves in reading and writing. Also we make beats which involves really no reading or writing.
The tape is just dope. You can listen to it here:
What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
Right now we’re starting to sign in-house rappers to complete our projects and present ourselves as a full-scale record label. We will also have another beat tape dropping this month called “March Madness”, stay tuned.
Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s).
We’re working on our own in-house rapper team, we produce our own music.
But to fantasize I’d say Juicy J, Young Thug, or Termanology would fit our style.
Name something random that people do not know about you.
I’m a big soccer fan, my childhood goal was to go pro. I made it as far as NAIA college. I played with dozens of current pro players, some players in FIFA etc.
I never made that final push, mostly due to my work-ethic. Failing at that motivates me today to go hard, not be lazy, and pursue my goals 100%.
What ís one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
Few in this industry are humble, but those who are end up being the best, because they’re honest with themselves, they’re more risky, and they’re never satisfied with their work.
What can we expect from you in the future?
Full scale music production, chart topping music, and loads of groupies in my DM (just kidding about that last one: I’m married. I don’t think she’ll read this, but if she does I’m denying it happened and I’m holding you responsible for setting me up). (laughs).
