Spotlight Interview: Persona

Get to know Persona, a buzzing artist hailing from Philadelphia. While he is making major moves and pushing his new project, he’s gaining quite a fanbase in the process. Persona is on the right path to making his stamp in the music industry. We got the chance to interview Persona about his highlights of the year, upcoming plans, some advice for indie artists and what’s next for him. Check out the interview below.
Tell us about yourself and your music.
My real name is Courtland Ross. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, in section called Germantown. I’ve been creating music since the 90’s. I consider myself a true Hip Hop emcee with the ability to adapt to what going on in music year after year still stay tru to myself.
How would you describe your sound?
My sound is the energetic Hip Hop. Its organic and soulful.
Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.
I did “Da game iz reigned out” mixtape back in ’09 on Some songs off it ended up on Australian Dj Sco next to blow CD, and we redid the Interstate featuring Maddness and Budda Banks and that was released on the Uncle O and Nustyle Presents: The Showcase Vol 1. It’s been doing pretty good on all digital outlets.
What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?
I recording my Album “My thoughts My words My life” dropping summer 2017. It’s going to my best body of work. We got the single “Pose 4 Me” featuring IAMPLEX, C NOTE$ and Grammy Award Winning Guordan Banks. We putting that grown and sexy back in the game. It will be released on my own Imprint Madd Reign Entertainment.
What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far? Being able to touch people lives with topics they cant relate to.
Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s).
I would like to do a record with R.L. from next. Also record With Busta Rhymes.
What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
That its a lane for everyone you just need to find it and execute your dream. Don’t let no one tell you that you can’t.
What can we expect from you in the future?
Big records! I have a few ventures we working on now. A lot of big brands.
