@TalentDisplay Talks “The Antagonist,"

TalentDisplay is a one of a kind artist. He’s authentic and has his niche down pat. While in the process of promoting his latest project, “The Antagonist,” we learned how he is successful with branding and marketing. Not only does he make music that people gravitate to, but he is a businessman.
We got the opportunity to interview TalentDisplay and talk about “The Antagonist,” branding, gender issues in hip hop, his upcoming plans and even about the Bow Wow Instagram incident. Peep the interview below.
You go by “TalentDisplay”, do people ever butcher your name?
Do they?! Aw man, always! They always say “Talented” instead of “Talent” for some reason, but those who know me as an artist and rep my alias while conducting a convo with me always call me “Talent” or “TalentD” (laughs).
What advice would you give to people pursuing the rap game as a career?
Depends on the person’s personal situation and what was the initial drive force for them choosing to take the path. I would tell them it’s a cutthroat type of business and not to trust anyone’s words, but their signatures. I would also add an advice to stay at it, to constantly hustle and never rely on your day to day friends. Those who do not know you will support you far more.
If you could go back in time, is there anything you would do differently as an artist?
There is. I would utilize the connections I have made in the past year more than ever while truly capitalizing on the Viral buzz I obtained from “Purple Yellow” a Lakers themed song I put out a few years back.
When did you feel the transition towards pushing the music on a professional level?
When I started putting money behind it, straight up. Always invest in the music and add a sense of obligation by the other parties you’re dealing with.
How would you say you’ve made connections in the industry and do you have any advice as to how to go about it?
From word to mouth, to professionally submitted emails and constantly adding content. From music to current events to memes. My meme game is vicious (laughs).
Would you say men and women receive the same opportunities in the game?
I think it’s getting closer. Being that this is an ego driven game, mostly driven by male artists, I have seen females conform to a specific presentation. Overall, I think there’s an advantage and disadvantage on both sides of the fence. Shoutout to the amazing women out there killing it such as Jean Grae, Snow The Products and of course, Nicki Minaj.
Let’s discuss some artists in the spotlight. What do you think about Bow Wow recently being exposed on Instagram lying about his flying way?
Man, he’s becoming the new “Ja Rule” huh? (Laughs). Look, I think he shouldn’t have lied and falsely presented a lifestyle he wasn’t constantly on. Like, why lie about it? Now you’re getting draaaaaaaaged on Instagram, especially Twitter. Then again, if I’m his manager, I’d make him put out a song TODAY! Bad press is good press sometimes.
When you’re not promoting your album “The Antagonist” and your music, what do you like to do?
I love playing basketball, man. Yea, I am not good (laughs) but I love the game, I love sports in general. I think I have a good iQ and knowledge when it comes to sports too. I love Football, Basketball and more, even Soccer, I am a beast on Fifa too!
What can we expect from “TalentDisplay” in the near future?
Going to keep pushing “The Antagonist” adding some videos and shows soon. Also collab with some great artists and producers just putting out more and more music.
Anything you want to add to our readers checking out this interview?
