Spotlight Interview: Vizualye

Hip hop tells a story and we as music listeners love to hear the different stories that music brings. Up next, we have Vizualye, a hip hop artist with skill and talent. We caught up with him to talk about his upcoming music, latest plans, and what’s next for him.
Tell us about yourself and your music.
My name is Vizualye and I’m an independent hip hop artist on wow app, coming up on one year in June. I first stepped into the music scene in 2013 officially and I have since then released an album called Legends and Music on Tate Music Group, which I am not longer signed under. I was with them in 2014 until 2016. I also released a mixtape on DatPiff the same year (2014). To this present day I have mainly been staying presently active with a number of indie collaborations as well as releasing a few recent singles, Woman’s Worth featuring Tamara Osbourn, Unbelievable featuring Warren Young,  Hunger Games featuring J. Schick, and my latest single Hero’s featuring BetaPSI. I’ve been focusing more on supporting independent music, which I’m doing through wow app and keeping busy with staying active and growing in my music relations. I’ve just recently started a virtual streaming tour called Hero’s Stream Tour with BetaPSI and Thommo, which will last throughout 2018.
How would you describe your sound?

My sound is very indie hip hop, but I listen to a J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Talib Kwali, Mos Def, growing up on Mobb Deep (R.IP Prodigy) I don’t consider myself to sound like any of them but those are my influences so I feel my music reflects the messages and lyrical drive that they have.
Talk about the experience making your song/mixtape.

I’m currently working to put out my next official album “The Awakening” out through musicoin, which is a streaming platform similar to Spotify but a lot better both financially and musically supportive wise. My experience on this project has been mainly just understanding who my supporters are and growing in terms of an artist, putting together a great album for the people who support my music. I feel the album has been took some time creating both well worth the wait. I’ve grown a lot with my music.
What are you currently working on? Any new projects? Shows?

I’m currently doing a stream tour called Hero’s Stream Tour with BetaPSI and Thommo and I’m looking to add more artist as the time goes by. Its a virtual stream tour that last all 2018 and it’s something that the fans can feel a part of because it revolves around their support.
What has been your biggest highlight in your music career this far?

I don’t feel I’ve reached that level yet but I can tell you that what I’m doing in wow app, I hope to reach my goal of getting a lot of indie music artist on and showing them how they can create small wins and build up to long term goals within their music using simple tools and connecting in a more personal way with their audience.
Name your ideal collaboration: mainstream or independent artist(s).
That’s a good question, I have one for both. For a mainstream collaboration I think Alessia Cara would be really cool, and an independent collaboration I’d be honored to work with is Emma Joy! Both are very talented and creative. I think that would be something to look forward to.
Name something random that people do not know about you.

I’m really a level headed person. I don’t party, or go clubbing. I find myself at work or at home with my family, brothers and nephews.  I’m working on my bachelors degree this August to graduate in business administration and looking into film production in the future, along with owning my own record company. I’m not talking big time, just a moderate company where I can help less fortunate artist in educating and resources.
What’s one thing you have learned or discovered while being in the indie music scene/industry?
I learned that you have build good solid relationships in this industry and support one another. You can’t just be an artist. You have to take on the business most times, planning and getting the word out, budgeting and networking as well as being a fan. As artist, we enjoy listening to other artist and I feel indie artist should support each other more. We all can do at least one small thing to show support. Be genuine.
What can we expect from you in the future?

I’m really focusing on this album and getting more artist on wow app to help build more support and achieve our success goals without having to sell ourselves out. The technology and resources has changed since back in the days of myspace. I like to share what I’ve learnt over the past few years along with using wow app to get people to their goals faster. Expect to see me being more of a valued influence.
