The Band of the Hawk's ( @noahofhtx ) Latest Album "BOHUP Vol.2"

“The Band of the Hawk, the mercenary company known as DEF on the battlefield, are a spacious affair: all looped menace and blunted minutiae, not unlike early RZA productions if Mr. Diggs had been raised in Houston’s Fifth Ward worshipping 90’s hood flicks more than kung fu cinema and stuck in a Mario Brothers maze.  These early efforts have since been re-absorbed, shoving way towards the Hawks’ penchants for texture over bombast, interpretation over definition.  The current line-up of the Hawks: Noah Archangel, King aka Yeaux Majesty, Ash Ra aka Houey Freeman fka Ashtonomics, P.Ey3, Grynd Seazon, NBRS and Juskwam – succeeds in meeting the audience’s current expectation from a hip-hop group.  Each personality is equally present and distinguishable from track to track, regardless of preferred artistic attack.  Whether Noah raps or produces, or King spits coolness on the mic first or last, listeners know the unmistakable stew that is the Band of the Hawk.”
Today we’re here with the latest project “BOHUP Vol.2”. It’s a 15 track album that has beats that would remind you of beats you would hear in movie soundtracks but some also have classic rap beats with dope samples as well. The song “Nu” is a nice dope smooth track with a little southern twang to it. It’s almost like a variation of “It was a Good Day” by Ice Cube. The phrase “It’s a wonderful day” is even repeated in the song. This is an album filled with real rap, nothing like what we hear now that’s mainstream. The flows and analogies are so wild. It will make you miss 80s/90s rap. I think the track “Dirty Dolla$” was the closest thing to a mainstream sounding track but even then, the flow is ridiculous. These new rappers wish they could rhyme like this. Definitely one of my favs on this album. They also experiment with different flows a few times like in the track “Body”. This track has a nice reggae beat and one artist has a dope reggae verse on it. Summer vibes. “Stand Up” is another fav of mind. It’s a real conscience rap. Listen to all the tracks here:
What I really love about these guys is that they’re 7 emcees just vibing on an album. We don’t really have rap groups or collectives anymore so this is very dope. Also they’re very creative. The visuals they have for their work is really amazing. They really love comics and falcons. Check out this vid from them:

Also, their website is one of the dopest websites I’ve seen for an artist. Check it out here:
