Kendrick Lamar is a dad again! The recording artist released new artwork for his forthcoming album on Wednesday (May 11) that featured the newest addition to the family.
“Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers,” Kendrick said of his new project. The celebrity father also shared a picture featuring his family.
Many were too excited to learn of Lamar’s forthcoming album to take note of the recording artist’s fiancee, Whitney Alford, and their kids. Kendrick and Whitney welcomed their daughter in 2019. The celebrity father has, for the most part, been off the social media grid since then, which has only made his loyal followers more enthusiastic about his return to music.
“The king is back,” one Instagram fan exclaimed after viewing Kendrick Lamar’s artwork. “I suggest no one drops on the 13th,” another social media follower advised. “‘Tis Kenny day only,” they concluded.
Kendrick Lamar’s fourth studio album, DAMN, was released on April 14, 2017. Many deemed the project as a masterpiece and had high hopes of Kendrick following up with another album in the next few months. The rapper has, instead, taken five years to complete another project.
“I spend the whole year just thinking about how I’m gonna execute a new sound,” Kendrick said when recently asked why he takes so long to release new music. “I can’t do the same thing over and over,” the recording artist continued.
“I need something to get me excited,” Lamar further explained to the press. “I see you get frustrated sometimes because you want some new sh*t,” he admitted to media and his fans.
Frustration turned to joy on Wednesday as Kendrick Lamar’s supporters were able to bask in the reality of him releasing an album this year. Many speculated the rapper had something in the works because of his Instagram posts leading up to the big announcement.
Kendrick Lamar and Whitney Alford have yet to share the names of their children with the public.
